I have a general question that I hope you can address. I’m a translator from Spanish to English in Costa Rica. I’m a dual national, US & CR. The pay here in CR is so low that I’m wanting to get some work from the US. I’ve read your suggestion about starting at the ATA site and sending resumes and e-mail to the members who are agencies. At this point, I no longer have a bank account in the US. My question is this: Based on your experience, will I meet resistance to working with someone not residing in the US, although I am legally entitled to work there and file taxes there. I would want to be paid by check to a Miami address (a courier forwarding company to ensure safe delivery). Actually, I’m thinking about moving back to the US but would like to get the ball rolling in the meantime. I guess I’m just wondering how you react to this possibility or if you can think of any suggestions about issues to take into account.

I’m just beginning your book, but couldn’t readily find anything that dealt with this.
